About Boston

Boston and its Beaches

Most people don't think of Boston when it comes to a beach home, but Boston has some great beaches with lots of history.

History to Spare

Massachusetts holds a significant amount of history regarding the beginning of the United States. The beaches in the Boston area are no different! One of those, Castle Island, hosts Fort Independence which overlooks the Boston Harbor Island.

Fort Independence is open for tours year-round to learn about the history that helped start the country here. You can also walk the Castle Island loop. The loop around the island is approximately 2.5 miles and offers scenic views of Boston Harbor and the surrounding area.

Castle Island has a small beach that is popular for swimming and sunbathing. Visitors and residents can also enjoy playing beach volleyball or having a picnic on the beach. And if you need more than that, Castle Island offers several spots for fishing, both from the shore and the pier.

The First Ever Beach

Revere Beach is named after the famous Paul Revere, as is the city it is in. Although Revere Beach is in Revere, Massachusetts, it is just five miles north of Boston. Plus, it was the first public beach in the United States. The beach forms a giant crescent, creating the ideal beach for sunbathing and calm waves.

Revere Beach is a great location for a scenic walk or jog along the beachfront. The beach has a boardwalk that stretches for over two miles and offers excellent views of the ocean. Revere Beach also has several volleyball nets set up for visitors to enjoy a game of beach volleyball. Revere Beach has plenty more activities, such as swimming, local arcades on the boardwalk, dining, and more!

Essentials

Boston is a massive hub for travel! If you want to travel or have someone travel in, consider the Boston Logan International Airport in the city. If medical care is needed, there are several hospitals in the city, and the closest would depend on what side of Boston you're on. Still, you can always consider Massachusetts General Hospital in the West End neighborhood.

Combination of Culture and Recreation

Boston is a city that offers a unique combination of history, culture, and natural beauty, and its beaches are a reflection of this. Boston's beaches offer a range of experiences for visitors to enjoy. Whether you're looking to swim, sunbathe, walk, jog, fish, or relax with a picnic, Boston's beaches have something for everyone.
