Seafood Capital of South Carolina 

Murrells Inlet is a small coastal town located in Georgetown County, South Carolina. It is situated just south of Myrtle Beach and is often referred to as the "Seafood Capital of South Carolina" due to its abundance of fresh seafood restaurants and its historic role as a fishing village.

Fishing History

Murrells Inlet has a history like no other. Rumor has it that a pirateJohn Murrell was the original finder of the island. He then supposedly buried some treasure on the island, but it was never found. Even in the 21st century, archeologists have looked but have come up short each time. 

The true jewel of this city is its copious fishing. With recreational and commercial fishing opportunities, the island thrives with its bounty. Local restaurants are known for using the daily catches as specials each night. You won’t find a fresher fish selection than you will at Murrells Inlet. 

The Famous Marshwalk

In addition to its natural beauty, Murrells Inlet also offers a range of cultural and recreational activities. The town is home to several art galleries and cultural centers, as well as a number of golf courses and recreational parks. Murrells Inlet also hosts several festivals and events throughout the year, including the Murrells Inlet MarshWalk Masters, which is a popular golf tournament.

The place to be in Murrells Inlet is Marshwalk. Marshwalk is a half-mile bridge over a natural saltwater estuary. It has gorgeous views, wildlife sightings, and plenty to do along the way. There are multiple restaurants with waterfront dining and live music, such as Wicked Tuna and Drunken Jack’s.
